Plant Galls – Their Inducers and Parasitoids –

February 6, 2013:  The Reserve was privileged to have Dr. Peter Bryant speak on Plant  Galls – Their Inducers and Parasitoids.  The room was packed with people eager to hearDr. Bryant discuss his  recent research on local gall insects using DNA analysis to distinguish between  similar species and to determine their evolutionary relationships to each  other.  There is extraordinary diversity among these tiny insects, and Dr.  Bryant’s extreme macrophotography showed just how spectacular insects can be,  even when they are small enough to stand on the head of a pin.
