June 26, 2013 CPR & First Aid Training

2013-06-26 First Aid-CPR Training day (4)

ARC Instructor Bob Tres re-certified The Reserve Staff, Childrens’ Naturalists and some of The Reserve’s Volunteers in first aid and CPR.  He also demonstrated the use of an AED.

Bob’s been working as an environmental educator for 17 years. He’s worked at Caspers Park, Modjeska Canyon, Irvine Regional Park, Upper Newport Bay, Santiago Oaks, Dana Point, and Crystal Cove State Beach as well as in the San Bernardino Mountains. In the summers, he works for the city of Huntington Beach where he manages community pools as well as providing all the lifeguard training and emergency responder training.

While working in all these places he has responded to broken limbs, heart attacks, heat stroke, lacerations, sprains, drownings, stinging insects and has dealt with more poison oak than most.

This was a great opportunity for volunteers to interact with the staff while we all learned important new skills.  We also shared a nice lunch of pizza and salad.
