Fascinating Falcons

February 3, 2013:  Ancient nobility has practiced falconry for over 4000 years, and modern day master falconer Adam Chavez is linked to those that came before him by sharing a dedication to the art of falconry.  Adam has spent years training, rehabilitating and competing with falcons and other birds of prey, and is a passionate advocate for this sport that requires patience, time and attention to detail.  Our sold out Falconry Demonstration gave ordinary folks the chance to get up close and personal with Adam’s well-trained brood: Siren, an European Goshawk, Kane, a Prairie Falcon, Boris, a Harris Hawk and a little Peregrine Falcon.  Boris was the star as he chased a stuffed rabbit on a lure and came to volunteers wearing protective gloves when called.  Many thanks to Adam for introducing Reserve patrons to the “sport of kings”.
