We had a party of 7 guests learning how to identify birds this past Saturday. Volunteer Tom Eastman taught a variety of techniques to begin learning how to recognize birds. Color, shape, size and behaviors but sounds are most of what birding is about. Volunteers Gary and Diane helped to tally, photograph and identified 34 species of birds on this warm, sunny morning. Some of the birds we identified were: Red-tailed Hawk , Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Northern Mockingbird, Phainopepla and Nuttal’s Woodpecker. Thank you to our three volunteers for the help and wonderful information.
