Bird Walk at Horno Basin
May 19, 2013: Sunday morning was for the birds. All kinds of birds!
The Bird Walk at Horno Basin in Ladera Ranch was great way to start out the day. Tom Eastman, our bird expect for the morning, led eighteen people around the Horno Basin ponds and down the path along Sienna Botanica. In a two hour walk, we observed 27 species of birds, and learned about the behavior and habits of many of them. Check out the video on The Reserve Facebook page to see what a Greater Roadrunner (in the cuckoo family) sounds like when he’s calling to find a companion – and all the while holding a lizard in his beak!
