St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Hunt
March 17, 2013:
To catch a leprechaun is not such an easy task, but that didn’t stop participants who came out for The Reserve’s St. Patrick’s Day Leprechaun Hunt. The hunt took place on The Richard and Donna O’Neill Conservancy, a part of The Reserve with a rich Irish history. Prior to the hunt, we prepared ourselves by studying up on Ireland’s most notorious faery. We even set out baited traps to see if we might catch one while we were “on the hunt”. We searched around oak trees and along the side of grasslands. We found gold dust, tracks, and even what we suspected was leprechaun scat – but not a leprechaun in sight. When we came back to check our traps, we found they had all been sprung but rather than leprechauns in our traps, we found a small bundle of gold wrapped sweets. We had been tricked by that mischievous faery – the leprechaun!
