Nov. 22, 2014 Astronomy Night

Saturday was an exciting night for planet and star viewing once the clouds cleared out. One volunteer astronomer, Keith, talked about how the Philae lander managed to land on a comet and how different the gravity is on it. Mike did his wonderful star tour with jokes and all. Through the telescopes we viewed Mars, Uranus, the Andromeda galaxy and a ring nebula just to mention a few. Just looking up we saw a satellite, shooting stars and more. A highlight of the evening was a big green fireball in the sky just as the event was ending. Thank you to all our volunteer astronomers: Mike, Gary, James, Keith, Dennis and Spencer, for sharing their expertise, knowledge and equipment.
