July Bat Walk July 12, 2014

We had a fun and exciting evening at the July Bat Walk. We started the evening off viewing a male tarantula in the road, then went on to learn about the biology of bats, vocalizations and torpor as well as feeding habits. Bat biologist, Stephanie Remington dispelled myths and provided answers to many questions people had about bats. We then watched and listened with sonar detectors as the bats flew from their roosts to feed. We saw and heard about 40-50 bats of 4 different species. There was a brilliant full super-moon to light the way as well. Later we stood in the dark listening for the sounds of the night. Join us again August second for our next bat walk.
