Break of Dawn Walk, July 2013

While walking along Gato Road on this early morning walk, we all experienced the quiet of the Conservancy in summer. The light always feels a little more intense as the sun starts to peek through the night’s leftover cloud of fog. The ever present beauty of the wild landscape, the canyons lined with Coast Live Oak woodlands, the hillsides of soft golden grasslands and the taller Coastal Sage scrublands, the sandstone bluffs, and the rolling hills. There were some wildflower standouts, Jimsonweed being one of them, undeterred by the heat of the season. We finished the walk refreshed – what a joy to be immersed in nature’s art and a part of its elaborate morning beauty.
