June 25, 2016: This past Saturday, we spent the morning on a relaxing stroll through The Reserve bird watching with bird expert, Gary Meredith. He helped us identify over 15 different species of birds and taught us a lot about the behavior and diet of several bird species we have on The Reserve. He also identified a few species of butterflies for us, such as the California ringlet and pygmy blue. We learned about the importance of butterflies and other insects as a large part of some birds’ diets and learned that hummingbirds rely on spider web silk as an important nest building material.
