Adventures of an Acorn

September 9, 2016: Fall’s first acorns have begun to sprout among the oaks on The Reserve. They arrived just in time for this weekend’s Adventures of an Acorn trail walk where we discovered the many uses of this treasured seed among people and animals of the past and present. We explored the acorns and oaks along the trail as we made acorn necklaces, watched for birds storing beloved acorns, and practiced pounding acorns as the local native people once did.
