Scout Oak Adoption Weeding
Eradicating non-native, highly invasive plants preserves water and soil nutrients, helping the Oaks as well as the native animals that rely on them. Milk thistles and Russian thistles (better known as Tumbleweeds) are especially profuse and it is important to remove them while they are still small plants since they can grow up to 5 feet tall. Thank you Scouts for dedicating your time and efforts to helping Orange County wildlife. You make a big difference!
BTW – all scout troops, church groups, garden clubs or other organizations are welcome to come out to help trail clear and weed. We have regular trail clearing days, or you can schedule your own event, where you can join in this outdoor fun – all while getting exercise, and most importantly you’ll be “giving back” to nature.
