February’s Astronomy Night
0 Comment
February 9, 2013:
What a beautifully clear cold night we had Saturday. We were able to view an Iridium flare-part of communications satellites orbiting earth, Uranus, Jupiter its bands & four of its moons, “shooting” stars, and stars including Sirius and Betelgeuse-Orion’s super-giant red star as well as many other interesting objects. A highlight of the night was seeing the International Space Station pass overhead. One very enthusiastic young person stated “I can believe there are people on that!” Everyone enjoyed themselves tremendously. We truly thank our volunteer astronomers: Mike, James and Avi for sharing their expertise.
